The Bosphorus Intercontinental Swimming Race (Boğaziçi Kıtalararası Yüzme Yarışı) is an annual open water swimming event that takes place between Europe and Asia in Istanbul, Turkey. Since 1989, it has been a tradition organized by the Turkish Olympic Committee, with Samsung as the sponsor. The swim is approximately 6.5 kilometers long and serves as a true test of endurance and spirit, where participants swim downstream with the dominant surface current of the Bosphorus, while enjoying an unforgettable crossing from Asia to Europe.

Highlights

  • Join over 2400 participants from around the world for this iconic event in the waters of the Bosporus, during which one of the world's busiest shipping lanes will be closed.
  • The race is measured at 6.5 km, but swimmers benefit from the surface current of the Bosporus, which can reach up to 7 km/h, making swimming physically easier.
  • The course starts from Kanlıca harbor on the Asian side and ends at Cemil Topuzlu Park in Kuruçeşme, on the European side, offering participants a unique view of Istanbul.
